5 Ways to Style Your Console Table Like a Designer

5 Ways to Style Your Console Table Like a Designer

A console table is one of the hardest-working pieces in your home. It greets guests in your entryway, anchors your living room wall, and provides the perfect canvas for showing off your personal style. But getting the styling just right? That can feel tricky.

After years of designing spaces for our clients, we have learned a few tricks that make console styling feel effortless. Here are five approaches we come back to again and again.

1. Start with Height

The number one mistake we see? Everything sitting at the same level. Your eye needs somewhere to travel. Start with your tallest piece—a lamp, a piece of artwork, or a tall vase—and work your way down from there.

Shop the look: Our Tex Wall Sconces add height without taking up table space, while the Josie Vase creates a stunning focal point.

2. Layer in Artwork

Whether hung above or leaned casually against the wall, artwork gives your console purpose. We love the leaned look for a more relaxed, collected-over-time feel. Layer a larger piece in back with a smaller frame in front for depth.

Shop the look: The Amber Hills I Artwork brings warmth and movement to any console arrangement.

3. Add Something Living

Fresh flowers, a potted plant, or even quality faux greenery brings life to your vignette. It is the difference between a console that feels staged and one that feels like home.

Shop the look: Pair seasonal stems with our Lainey Terracotta Floral Transferware Vase for an organic, collected feel.

4. Include Functional Pieces

A beautiful tray to corral keys, a decorative box for odds and ends, or a small bowl for everyday items. These pieces earn their place by working hard while looking beautiful.

Shop the look: Our Metal Boxes in Antique Brass are perfect for stashing small essentials, while the Decorative Paulownia Wood Tray keeps everything looking intentional.

5. Finish with Texture

Mix materials to keep things interesting: smooth ceramics next to woven baskets, brass alongside wood, matte finishes beside glossy ones. This layering of texture is what makes a space feel designer-curated rather than catalog-ordered.

Shop the look: The Cast Iron Black Knot Décor adds sculptural interest, while Taper Candle Holders in Antique Gold bring warmth and shine.
