Console Tables

Find console tables, media consoles, and storage cabinets in solid oak, teak, and reclaimed pine. Primarily from Ethnicraft (Belgian-designed, solid wood construction) with additional pieces from Dovetail, Mercana, Classic Home, and Four Hands. TV cupboards, sideboards, and entryway consoles with drawers, flip-down doors, and open shelving.

Console Tables for Entryways and Living Rooms

Our console tables range from narrow entryway designs (the Nordic Oak Console at 47 inches wide) to wider storage consoles with drawers and shelving. Ethnicraft consoles are built from solid oak or teak with dovetail joinery — no veneers or particle board. The Mercana Arches and Brink consoles offer metal and mixed-material options for a lighter, more contemporary look. For entryways, measure your wall space and allow 4-6 inches of clearance on each side so the table does not crowd the space.

TV Cupboards and Media Consoles

Ethnicraft media consoles come in multiple configurations: single-drawer (fits under most mounted TVs), two-drawer (standard living room size), and three-drawer (for larger entertainment setups). Construction includes flip-down doors with soft-close hinges, cable management cutouts in the back panel, and varnished teak or oak finishes. The Graphic, Mosaic, and Grooves lines feature carved front panels. The Shadow, PI, and Nordic lines have cleaner, minimal profiles. All Ethnicraft TV cupboards are designed to accommodate soundbars on top.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the standard height for a console table?

Standard console table height is 28-32 inches. For entryways, 30 inches works best — it aligns with most door handle heights and sits comfortably below wall mirrors or artwork. For use behind a sofa, match the console height to the sofa back or sit 1-2 inches below it. Our Ethnicraft Nordic Console is 33 inches tall and our Mercana options range from 30-32 inches.

What is the difference between a console table and a sideboard?

Console tables are narrow (typically 12-16 inches deep) and designed to sit against a wall or behind a sofa. Sideboards are deeper (18-22 inches) with more enclosed storage — drawers, cabinets, and shelves — and are traditionally used in dining rooms for serving and storage. Our Ethnicraft Shadow and Wave sideboards serve as dining room storage. The Nordic Storage Console bridges both categories with console-table proportions but added drawer storage.

How do I choose the right size TV cupboard?

The TV cupboard should be at least as wide as the TV — ideally 4-8 inches wider on each side for visual balance. For a 55-inch TV, choose a cupboard at least 60 inches wide. For a 65-inch TV, go 70 inches or wider. If the TV is wall-mounted, the cupboard height matters less. If the TV sits on top, add the cupboard height plus the TV height and make sure the center of the screen lands at seated eye level (about 42 inches from the floor).

How do I care for solid wood console tables and cabinets?

Ethnicraft recommends dusting with a soft, dry cloth weekly. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth followed immediately by a dry one — never let water sit on the wood. Apply a thin coat of furniture wax or oil every 6-12 months to maintain the finish. Keep solid wood furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources (radiators, fireplaces) which cause warping and cracking over time. Use coasters and felt pads under objects to prevent scratches.
